Garcia

State Representative for HD35

It has been my honor to serve the people of HD 35 for the last three legislative sessions. You have my commitment to keep fighting for you and your family to be able to thrive. We can do this through creating tools for hard working Coloradans to build great lives for themselves and their families. We can make Colorado affordable for all of us, not just the wealthy. I bring nearly 20 years of experience leading social justice nonprofits that have successfully supported families wellbeing through policy advocacy and organizing. It will be my honor to continue to serve the residents of HD 35 with integrity, dignity, and justice.

The Economy

A strong economy is not a widening wealth gap, or a service sector that can barely make ends meet, or teachers who can’t afford to live where they work, or childcare providers who live in poverty. A strong economy is where you and me can build a good life with good wages, good schools, access to good food, and healthcare.

Education

A strong education is a vital foundation for successful adults and its starts from day one. Our education system must adapt with the changing times including the ability for local districts to implement standard based student achievement assessments, provide education supporting services like mental health services and tutoring, and ensure that teachers are given pay and support they need to be successful.

Climate Crisis

In 2020, Governor Polis released the Pollution Reduction Roadmap. While this is a good start, We still have a long way to go to ensure we have healthy quality air, water, and land for ourselves and future generations

Healthcare

The health of Coloradans is at risk with the cuts in Medicaid and increasing healthcare costs. We have to put the health of every single Coloradan first from the plains to the mountains and all of us in between. We have to support our local safety net providers, and make sure that for-profit healthcare companies stop profiting off of our sicknesses.

reproductive justice

Reproductive Justice is an issue that every person faces. It is something that no one should interfere with. Everyone should have the information and tools they need to make their own personal and informed decisions.

Housing

No one should unwillingly live without a stable roof over their heads and housing should not be considered a privilege. In order for anyone to lead a healthy life, housing as a basic need must be met and it’s the government’s obligation to help make sure this basic need is met.
